India – Day 4

View Comments

We traveled 80 km today to do T4T training in Kolar.  It was a long drive and dangerous if you have ever driven on Indian highways.  The ride left most of us a little sick.  We arrived at the place of meeting and discovered that the toilet facilities were the bushes.  The ladies were so plesed.  The room was filled and people were sitting outside.  The power was out but they got it going.  It was very hot in the building.  We preached, sang, taught for 4 hours again.  Many responded to start house churches.  Ramesh is well respected among these people and his mother who led him to Christ is highly respected.   We were again honored with necklaces as their guests.  This culture honors its guest to a much greater extreme than we do.  We ate in an Indian restaurant and it took us 3 hours with some down pours of rain to get back to the city.  It was a dangerous ride.  We stopped on the way in had some coconut “water” on the way in that morning.  We retired earlier this night.  It has been a fast paced time.  For me, it has been like 3 Sundays, 3 days in a row (at least 4 sermons) coming off a 26 hour trip which I did not sleep on, throw in some travel and the food challenges; I know what the joy of the Lord being my strength is.  There is a great sense of blessing and significant ministry and enlarged vision on the part of our team.  We are blessed to be here but we (me especially since I am writing this) are ready to return to our families.  I do not particularly like traveling as some do.  I travel out of obedience and obligation to the Great Commission.  Because of that I have great joy in the Great Commission, but I always miss my wife and my 4 boys.  So I am already looking ahead to that reunion especially.  And even though I have preached, 14 or 15 times in 3 days, I am looking forward to standing in the pulpit of FBC Rogers on Sunday.
