Reflections from Destin

Our family has enjoyed 4 days on the beach in Destin, FL.  Time flies when you are having fun.  It has been nice to have some time with our kids before our schedules get so busy again.  No one got too much sun.  Lisa and I are past the age of sun bathing (baking).  It’s amazing how many people from Arkansas are here.  I met the pastor from Christian Life Cathedral in Fayetteville.  He was on his first day of a month off.  How many of us are jealous?

Caleb, Aaron, Benjamin, and I went fishing with a guide.  Jonathan elected to sleep in and sit it out.  We caught our limit of black snapper and Caleb caught his limit of king mackerel before Benjamin, Aaron, and I began to get sick and we had to move to calmer waters in the bay.

One book that I finished reading was Margin.  I highly recommend the book to anyone suffering from a busy schedule and the stress that results from not having margin in your life.  The challenge is transferring the great information to apply to your personal schedules.

From the book, the Bible, and some reflection time, I anticipate a sermon series on the horizon on simplicity and/or authenticity.  Jesus certainly lived a simple and authentic life.  I am looking forward to finishing up our series on Reaching Generation Next Now and then beginning a series on Sufficiency.  Better go since technically, I am on vacation.  Until next time.  . .Wes
